The Speyside Distillery stands at Drumguish, near Kingussie, high up the Spey valley and well south of the main cluster of Speyside distilleries. The stone buildings were put up slowly over many years by George Christie, and the distillery finally began producing spirit in 1990. It is one of the smaller malt distilleries in Scotland.
Early releases were sold under the Drumguish and Speyside names. Today the official single malts appear as SPEY, with age statements such as the 10 and 12 Year Old and named bottlings such as Trutina, Tenné and Trilogia. Spey Fumare is made from peated malt and is also offered at cask strength, an unusual style for this part of Scotland.
Independent bottlings show up regularly, often labelled simply 'Speyside' with a vintage and cask number. In our catalogue you will find casks from Douglas Laing's Old Particular, Hunter Laing, Adelphi, Berry Bros & Rudd, The Vintage Malt Whisky Company and That Boutique-y Whisky Company. Watch the label, since 'Speyside' on an independent bottle can also mean an undisclosed distillery from the region rather than this one.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
