Macduff distillery sits by the River Deveron between the towns of Banff and Macduff, on the coast of north-east Scotland. It was built in the early 1960s and is now owned by Bacardi through John Dewar & Sons. Much of its spirit goes into blends, notably William Lawson's.
The owners bottle the single malt under the name The Deveron, earlier Glen Deveron, rather than as Macduff. In our catalogue that means ranges such as The Deveron 12 Year Old and the 10 Year Old. The style is generally light, malty and fruity.
Because the official malt carries a different name, the Macduff name appears mostly on independent bottlings, and there are many of them. Buyers will find single casks from Douglas Laing (Old Particular), Hunter Laing, Duncan Taylor, Gordon & MacPhail, Signatory Vintage, Ian Macleod, The Vintage Malt Whisky Co. (The Cooper's Choice) and That Boutique-y Whisky Company, often at good ages for the price.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
