Gordon & MacPhail began in 1895 as a grocer and wine and spirit merchant in Elgin, at the heart of Speyside, founded by James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail. The business has been owned for generations by the Urquhart family, who also own the Benromach distillery and built a new distillery, The Cairn, in the Cairngorms.
What sets Gordon & MacPhail apart is that it has long sent its own casks to distilleries to be filled with new spirit, then matured them in its own warehouses in Elgin. This gives it control over cask choice and age, and it explains the very old releases in its catalogue, such as its 50 Year Old bottlings and record-breaking old Mortlach.
The ranges reflect this history. Connoisseurs Choice presents single malts from many distilleries, with a cask strength version, while the Distillery Labels series continues long-standing arrangements to bottle whiskies such as Glen Grant, Strathisla, Mortlach and Tormore under their distillery names. Speymalt bottlings of Macallan, the Private Collection, the MacPhail's Collection and Spirit of Scotland complete the picture.
In our catalogue you will find whisky from Glen Grant, Macallan, Highland Park, Glenlivet, Tomatin, Strathisla, Tormore and Mortlach, among others, from young everyday bottlings to rare decades-old single casks.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
