Tobermory sits on the harbour of Mull's main town and dates from 1798, making it one of the older distilleries in Scotland. Its history has been broken by several long silent periods and changes of ownership. A refurbishment closed it from 2017 to 2019 before production resumed.
The distillery makes two different spirits. Tobermory is unpeated and tends towards a fruity, malty, gently coastal style. Ledaig is heavily peated, smoky and often quite briny, and it has built a strong following of its own.
The official range includes a 12 Year Old and older expressions such as the 18, 20, 21 and 24 Year Old, plus Ledaig at various ages, among them the Ledaig 21 Year Old and a Ledaig 21 Year Old Manzanilla Cask Finish. Limited releases with finishes, such as a 10 Year Old 2011 Virgin Oak Cask Finish, appear from time to time.
Both spirits are popular with independent bottlers. Douglas Laing, Signatory Vintage, Gordon & MacPhail, Murray McDavid, Hunter Laing, That Boutique-y Whisky Company and Master of Malt all bottle Tobermory or Ledaig, often as single casks or numbered batches such as the Ledaig 17 Year Old Batch 7 and Ledaig 19 Year Old Batch 4.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
