Dailuaine lies in a hollow near Carron, a short way from Aberlour in the heart of Speyside. It was founded in 1852 by William Mackenzie and grew into one of the larger distilleries of the region. In 1889 it became the first distillery to have a pagoda roof over its kiln, designed by the architect Charles Doig.
The distillery is owned by Diageo and most of its spirit goes into blends, including Johnnie Walker. Its spirit is full bodied and robust, often called meaty, and it takes well to sherry casks.
Official bottlings are few. The best known is the 16 Year Old in Diageo's Flora & Fauna series, matured partly in sherry casks, and there have been occasional special releases such as old Manager's Dram bottlings.
Most Dailuaine on the market comes from independent bottlers. Gordon & MacPhail (Connoisseurs Choice), Signatory Vintage, Douglas Laing (Hepburn's Choice), Hunter Laing, Adelphi, Càrn Mòr, James Eadie, Darkness and That Boutique-y Whisky Company all bottle it, from young cask finishes to long aged single casks.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
