Càrn Mòr

Càrn Mòr is the independent bottling brand of the Morrison family's whisky company in Perthshire, now trading as Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, which also runs the Aberargie distillery. The family has a long history in Scotch whisky, and Càrn Mòr is the part of the business that selects casks from other distilleries and bottles them under its own name.

The company buys casks of whisky made elsewhere and bottles them in small batches or as single casks. The Strictly Limited range is its main line, typically small batches drawn from one or a few casks and bottled at a moderate strength, generally without chill filtration or added colour. The Celebration of the Cask range is reserved for older single casks, bottled with the cask number on the label, such as the 23 Year Old 1995 (cask 4190).

The distillery list is broad: Speyside names such as Glenburgie, Linkwood, Glenlossie, Mannochmore, Glentauchers and Dailuaine sit beside Bunnahabhain from Islay, Ardmore from the Highlands, and less common names like Teaninich and Croftengea, the peated style made at Loch Lomond. There are also occasional collaborations, such as the Wasted Degrees bottling.

For buyers, Càrn Mòr is a reliable route into distilleries that rarely appear as official single malts, usually at fair prices for the age.
