Invergordon distillery stands in the town of Invergordon on the Cromarty Firth, north of Inverness. It opened around 1960 as a grain distillery and is owned today by Whyte & Mackay. It is the only grain distillery in the Highlands, and most of what it makes goes into blended Scotch.
As a grain distillery it works with continuous column stills rather than pot stills, using cereals other than malted barley for most of its mash. The result is a lighter spirit than malt whisky, which after long years in cask can become soft and sweet, with notes of vanilla, coconut and tropical fruit, depending on the wood.
Official single grain bottlings have been released from time to time, but buyers mostly find Invergordon through independent bottlers, who have bottled single casks that spent 25, 30 or even 40 and more years in wood. These old grains often cost far less than malts of similar age, which makes them popular with drinkers curious about long matured whisky.
In our catalogue you will find Hunter Laing's The Sovereign, Duncan Taylor's Rare Auld, Pearls of Scotland, That Boutique-y Whisky Company's numbered batches, the Gleann Mor Rare Find single casks, and releases from Douglas Laing, Master of Malt, The Vintage Malt Whisky Company, Darkness and Murray McDavid.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
