Chivas Regal traces its roots to Chivas Brothers, a grocery and wine merchant business in Aberdeen in the 19th century that blended whisky for its customers. The Chivas Regal name became the house's premium blend in the early 20th century. Today the brand belongs to Chivas Brothers, the Scotch whisky arm of Pernod Ricard.
Chivas Regal is a blend of malt and grain whiskies. Strathisla in Keith is regarded as the brand's spiritual home, and malts from other Chivas Brothers distilleries such as Longmorn, Glen Keith, Glenlivet, Tormore and Scapa play their part, with grain whisky from Strathclyde. The house style is rounded, fruity and gently honeyed rather than smoky.
The core range is the 12 Year Old (12 years), the 18 Year Old and the older 25 Year Old, alongside the no-age XV. Variations include Mizunara, finished in part in Japanese oak, and the 13 Year Old Extra in American rye casks. Ultis is a blended malt made only from Speyside malts, and the Century of Malts was a blended malt from the 1990s built from a large number of single malts.
Collectors will also meet older bottlings such as the Legend Special Reserve and occasional limited releases like The Icon and the cask strength editions from Chivas Brothers.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
