Glen Scotia is in Campbeltown on the Kintyre peninsula, once home to dozens of distilleries and now to only a handful. It was founded in 1832 and is today owned by the Loch Lomond Group.
It is a small distillery with a single pair of stills. The spirit has the oily, slightly salty character people associate with Campbeltown, and alongside its usual unpeated make it also distills some peated spirit for certain releases.
The official range includes Double Cask, Campbeltown Harbour, Victoriana (bottled at cask strength), and age statements such as 10, 15, 16, 18, 25 and 30 Year Old. Each year a limited bottling is released for the Campbeltown Malts Festival. Older bottles marked 21 Year Old pre-2015 come from before the current range redesign.
Independent bottlings appear regularly, from Gordon & MacPhail, Murray McDavid, Ian Macleod, Wemyss Malts, Hunter Laing, Duncan Taylor and Signatory Vintage.
