Woodford Reserve stands in Woodford County, Kentucky, on a historic distilling site once known as the Labrot & Graham distillery. Brown-Forman bought and restored the site and launched Woodford Reserve as a brand in the mid-1990s. The distillery is also known for its long link with the Kentucky Derby, which explains the special Derby bottles collectors look for.
What sets the distillery apart in Kentucky is its set of copper pot stills, used for triple distillation in a region dominated by column stills. The standard Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select bourbon is a marriage of this pot still whiskey with column still whiskey from Brown-Forman's distillery in Louisville. The bourbon mash bill is high in rye for the style, giving a spicy, fruity bourbon with plenty of vanilla and oak.
The core Distiller's Select family covers bourbon, rye, wheat and malt whiskeys, all bottled as Kentucky straight whiskeys. Double Oaked is bourbon finished in a second, heavily toasted and lightly charred barrel, and Double Double Oaked takes that idea further. Batch Proof bottlings are released at full barrel strength, so the exact proof changes from batch to batch.
The Master's Collection is a series of limited releases exploring a particular grain, cask or finish, such as the Maple Wood Finish. Holiday Editions and Derby bottles appear yearly. Almost everything you will find is an official bottling; independent bottlings of Woodford Reserve are rare.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
