St George's Distillery, de thuisbasis van The English Whisky Co., werd in 2006 opgericht door de familie Nelstrop in de buurt van Thetford in Norfolk. Het was een van de eerste distilleerderijen die na zo’n eeuw weer whisky ging maken in Engeland, en het hielp mee aan de heropleving van de Engelse whisky.
De distilleerderij maakt single malt van gerst in koperen pot stills. Ze distilleert zowel ongeturfd als geturfd drank, dat rijpt in allerlei soorten vaten, van bourbonvaten tot rum- en wijnvaten.
Het kernassortiment draagt simpelweg de naam The English, met varianten zoals Double Cask en Rum Cask. In de loop der jaren heeft de distilleerderij ook whisky’s met leeftijdsvermelding uitgebracht, waaronder 5-, 9-, 10- en 12-jarige whisky’s, en rokerige bottelingen zoals de Heavily Peated single casks.
Er zijn ook onafhankelijke bottelingen, van That Boutique-y Whisky Company, Master of Malt en kleinere bottelaars. Let op: onze gegevens groeperen onder deze noemer ook flessen van andere Engelse distilleerderijen, zoals Cotswolds, White Peak, Spirit of Yorkshire en West Midlands; die worden gemaakt in hun eigen distilleerderijen, niet in Norfolk.
