Rest & Be Thankful Co. is a small independent bottler of Scotch whisky. It takes its name from the Rest and Be Thankful, the high pass on the road through the Argyll hills, where travellers traditionally stopped to rest after the climb.

The company works with single casks. Each bottling comes from one cask, and the label gives the age, the vintage and the cask number, as in the 12 Year Old 2007 (cask 801513) or the 21 Year Old 1995 (cask 125305). Outturns are therefore small, and two casks of the same age and vintage can taste quite different.

Its releases are generally bottled at cask strength, without chill filtration and without added colouring, so the whisky reaches the glass much as it came from the cask. As with most independents, it buys matured or maturing casks rather than distilling itself, and the character of each release depends heavily on the cask chosen.

The distilleries in our catalogue range widely: Tobermory and its peated Ledaig spirit, Bruichladdich, Highland Park, Deanston, Teaninich, Tomintoul, Glenallachie and Macduff. Ages run from around 10 years to older casks such as the 26 Year Old 1989, alongside occasional named releases like the 18 Year Old 2004 New Vibrations.
