Chivas Brothers Ltd.

Chivas Brothers began as a grocery and wine business in Aberdeen and grew into one of the largest Scotch whisky companies. Today it is the Scotch whisky business of the French group Pernod Ricard, best known for blends such as Chivas Regal and for a large portfolio of malt distilleries, many of them in Speyside.

As the owner of its distilleries, Chivas Brothers bottles its own spirit rather than buying from others. In our catalogue it appears as the bottler of Strathisla, the distillery in Keith that is the spiritual home of Chivas Regal, and of Caperdonich, a Rothes distillery that closed in 2002 and has since been demolished, which makes its whisky increasingly scarce.

Buyers will meet a few distinct ranges. The Distillery Reserve Collection consists of single cask bottlings sold mainly at the company's distillery visitor centres, such as the 21 Year Old 1997 (cask 128022) and the 22 Year Old 1997 (cask 5884). The Cask Strength Edition bottlings, like the 15 Year Old 1988, are bottled undiluted, and there is also a standard 12 year old.
