The English Whisky Company runs St George's Distillery near Thetford in Norfolk. It was founded by the Nelstrop family, who farm in the area, and started distilling in 2006, which made it one of the first dedicated whisky distilleries in England for over a century.
The whisky is distilled, matured and bottled at the distillery. Norfolk is barley country, and the house style is a soft, fruity malt, with peated spirit made alongside it for the smoky releases.
The core bottlings carry the name The English: The English Original, Smokey Oak, Double Cask, Rum Cask and a Triple Distilled version. Small Batch releases explore particular casks, such as sherry hogsheads or rum casks, and the Founders bottlings are older single casks. The Norfolk range, with names such as Farmers and Parched, is the place where the distillery experiments with grain whiskies and mixed mash bills.
For buyers new to English whisky, the core range is easy to find, while the single casks and limited releases appeal more to collectors.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
