Barton 1792 stands in Bardstown, Kentucky, a town at the heart of bourbon country. The distillery traces its roots to 1879 and is today owned by the Sazerac Company, which bought it in 2009.
The distillery makes Kentucky straight bourbon from a mash of corn with rye or wheat and malted barley, and ages it in new charred oak barrels in its own warehouses. Its 1792 bourbons are known for a rye-forward, spicy character, while the Sweet Wheat uses wheat in place of rye for a softer profile.
The main range a buyer meets is 1792: the 1792 Small Batch, 1792 Single Barrel, 1792 Full Proof, 1792 Bottled in Bond and 1792 Sweet Wheat.
