Agitator is a young whisky distillery in Arvika, in the Värmland region of western Sweden. It is one of a group of newer Swedish producers that have followed in the path opened by distilleries such as Mackmyra and Box.
The distillery makes single malt as well as other grain whiskies, and it is known for trying out unusual casks and recipes. A buyer meets the core Agitator Single Malt alongside the Argument series, with releases such as Sweet Toast, Sherry Butt, Islay PX, Kanstanj and All Grains, and the Evidens series, which includes an Ice Cider Cask edition. There is also a chestnut cask single malt and the Blind Seal straight rye.
Most bottles come from the distillery itself, but casks do reach independent bottlers too. Berry Bros. & Rudd has released Agitator, including a single cask from 2018 bottled in 2023 as part of a collective release of Swedish pioneers.
