Tullibardine ligt in Blackford, aan de rand van de Ochil Hills in Perthshire. Het dorp heeft een lange geschiedenis op het gebied van bierbrouwen en staat ook bekend om zijn bronwater. De huidige distilleerderij werd in 1949 gebouwd op de plek van een oudere brouwerij.
De distilleerderij werd halverwege de jaren negentig stilgelegd en in 2003 weer in productie genomen door een groep particuliere investeerders. Sinds 2011 is ze eigendom van het Franse familiebedrijf Picard Vins & Spiritueux, waarvan de Bourgondische roots terug te zien zijn in sommige vatenkeuzes.
De whisky is niet geturfd en de huisstijl neigt naar fruit, mout en zoetheid. In het officiële assortiment is Sovereign het instapmodel uit bourbonvaten, terwijl de 225 Sauternes, 228 Burgundy en 500 sherryvaten zijn gebruikt voor de finish van de bottelingen. Ook oudere officiële uitgaven, zoals de 25 Year Old en vintage-bottelingen, zijn verkrijgbaar.
Tullibardine wordt ook regelmatig uitgevoerd door onafhankelijke bottelaars.
