Finlaggan takes its name from Loch Finlaggan on Islay, once the seat of the Lords of the Isles. The brand belongs to The Vintage Malt Whisky Company, an independent Scottish bottler, and the Islay distillery that makes the whisky is not named on the label.
The style is smoky and coastal, in the familiar Islay manner. The brand is known as an affordable way to try peated Islay malt, and it is often found in supermarkets and specialist shops alike.
The core range includes the Original, the Old Reserve, the Cask Strength and Eilean Mor. There are also cask variations such as Sherrywood, Portwood and a Red Wine Cask bottling, as well as an Inaugural Release.
Some ranges linked to Finlaggan in our catalogue, such as the Kilmory Edition, the Corriecravie Edition and the Lagg Palo Cortado bottling, are names used by Lagg distillery on Arran. Buyers should check the label to be sure what they are buying.
