Ardgowan

Ardgowan is a whisky company building a distillery on the Ardgowan Estate at Inverkip, on the Firth of Clyde west of Greenock. The project took many years to come to life, and our catalogue includes an Official Opening Day 2025 bottling.

While its own spirit matures, Ardgowan has released whisky from other Scottish distilleries under the Clydebuilt name, a nod to the shipbuilding history of the Clyde. These include blended malts such as the Shipwright, the Riveter Single Grain and a 12 Year Old Sherry Cask Matured, along with single casks from bourbon hogsheads and from oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and manzanilla sherry casks. Vintages such as 2009 and 2012 predate the distillery, so this whisky was made elsewhere.

Our catalogue links Ardgowan bottles to distilleries including Ben Nevis, Glentauchers, Ardmore, Royal Brackla, Fettercairn, GlenAllachie and Caol Ila. Other releases include the Inverdarach Editions and Inverdarach Potstill Editions, and a GlenAllachie 15 Year Old Distillery Groundbreaker Edition.

For buyers, these are best judged release by release, since the origin of the whisky differs from bottle to bottle. Check the label for the distillery, age and cask type.
