Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc.

Heaven Hill was founded in Bardstown, Kentucky, in 1935, shortly after the end of Prohibition, and it is still owned by the founding Shapira family. It is one of the largest independent, family-owned spirits companies in the United States.

After a major fire in Bardstown in 1996, much of the distilling moved to the Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, which Heaven Hill bought in 1999. The company keeps large warehouses around Bardstown, where much of its whiskey matures.

The house style is classic Kentucky bourbon: a mash of mostly corn with some rye and malted barley, aged in new charred oak. Heaven Hill also makes rye whiskey, wheated bourbon and corn whiskey, so its stock covers a wide range of American styles.

Buyers will meet the Heaven Hill 7 Year Old Bottled in Bond Bourbon, the Elijah Craig Small Batch and the uncut, unfiltered Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. The Grain to Glass Bourbon and Rye, distilled in 2018, are recent releases from the distillery itself.

Heaven Hill whiskey also reaches independent bottlers. Our catalogue lists single casks and older corn whiskeys from That Boutique-y Whisky Company, Master of Malt, Keeble Cask Company and others, often sold under labels that do not show the distillery name on the front.
