Oban distillery stands in the middle of the harbour town of the same name on Scotland's west coast. It was founded in 1794, before the town grew up around it, and it is now owned by Diageo.
It is one of Scotland's smaller distilleries, working with a single pair of pot stills and traditional worm tub condensers. The whisky sits between Highland and island in style: lightly smoky and salty, with orange fruit, malt and a little spice.
The 14 Year Old is the long-standing core bottling, joined by the younger Little Bay and Bay Reserve, which includes a Game of Thrones edition. The Distillers Edition is finished in Montilla Fino casks, and Diageo's annual Special Releases have included 10, 12 and 21 Year Old bottlings, alongside the older Managers' Choice single cask.
Almost all Oban is distilled and bottled by its owner, and independent bottlings of this distillery are very rare.
