Kentucky Owl

Kentucky Owl traces its name to a whiskey made by C.M. Dedman in Kentucky in the late nineteenth century. The original business ended with Prohibition, and according to the brand's story its stocks were seized by the government, which inspired the name of the Confiscated release.

The brand was revived in the 2010s by Dixon Dedman, a descendant of the founding family, and was later bought by the Stoli Group. Rather than distilling its own whiskey, Kentucky Owl blends selected straight bourbons and ryes sourced from Kentucky distilleries, and plans a distillery of its own in Bardstown.

The best known releases are the numbered batches, such as Batch #8, #9, #10 and #11, usually bottled at high strength in limited quantities and sought after by collectors. Alongside them are Confiscated, Single Batch, the St. Patrick's Day Limited Edition, the Takumi Edition made with Japanese blenders, and the 11 Year Old Bayou Mardi Gras XO Cask.
