Aberfeldy stands on the edge of the Perthshire town of the same name, by the River Tay. It was built in the 1890s by John Dewar & Sons to supply malt whisky for their blends, and it is still part of Dewar's, now owned by Bacardi. The distillery runs a visitor centre devoted to the Dewar's story.
The water comes from the Pitilie Burn, which flows past the distillery. Aberfeldy is known for a rounded, fruity spirit with a honeyed character, and much of its output goes into Dewar's blended Scotch.
The official range is built around the 12 Year Old, with older expressions such as the 21 Year Old and cask finishes like the 15 Year Old Napa Valley Red Wine Cask Finish. There are also limited editions and travel retail releases, such as Exclusive for the Discerning Traveller.
