anCnoc is made at Knockdhu Distillery in the village of Knock, in the Highlands near the border with Speyside. The distillery dates from the 1890s. Its whisky is sold as anCnoc, Gaelic for 'the hill', to avoid confusion with the similarly named Knockando.
Knockdhu belongs to Inver House Distillers, who distill and bottle the whisky in Scotland. The spirit is condensed in worm tubs, and the classic anCnoc style is light, fresh and fruity, with honey and citrus notes.
The core range is built around the 12 Years, with older age statements such as the 24 Year Old and a 16 Year Old Cask Strength. Vintage releases like 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2009 appear regularly.
anCnoc also makes peated whisky, released as anCnoc Peat and in the Peatlands series, with bottlings such as Cutter that state their peating level in PPM. Barrow and Black Hill Reserve are further releases buyers will meet.
