Glen Moray

Glen Moray sits on the banks of the River Lossie in Elgin. It was converted from a brewery and began distilling in 1897. For much of the twentieth century it belonged to the company behind Glenmorangie, and since 2008 it has been owned by the French group La Martiniquaise.

The house style is light, fruity and gentle, typical of Speyside, and matures mainly in ex-bourbon casks. The distillery has also become known for experimenting with finishes and with peated spirit.

The official Elgin Classic range is widely available and reasonably priced, with versions such as the Classic, Peated, Port Cask and Chardonnay Cask Finish. Older age statements and limited releases sit above it, and The Private Cask Collection offers official single casks.

Glen Moray is also regularly bottled by independents, including Duncan Taylor, Douglas Laing, Hunter Laing, Berry Bros. & Rudd, That Boutique-y Whisky Company and The Vintage Malt Whisky Company, often as single casks.
