Ian Macleod Distillers is an independent, family-owned company based in Broxburn, near Edinburgh. Founded in 1933, it has grown from a blending and bottling business into a distiller, owning Glengoyne and Tamdhu, and reviving the Rosebank name. It also makes the Isle of Skye blended whisky and Smokehead.
Alongside its own distilleries, Ian Macleod buys casks from other producers and bottles them under its own labels. Chieftain's offers single casks or small pairs of casks, labelled with age, vintage and cask numbers, such as the 14 Year Old 2004 (casks 800229 and 800233). Dun Bheagan is a second range of single malts from selected casks.
As We Get It is an old name revived by the company for single malts bottled at cask strength without naming the distillery, in Islay and Highland versions. Distilleries that appear in our catalogue through Ian Macleod bottlings include BenRiach, Tobermory, Dalmore, Macduff, Glenburgie, Ardbeg and the closed Brora.
The Isle of Skye 8 Year Old is the company's own blend, and the range also takes in spirits beyond whisky, such as Rum Rebel.
