MacNair's is a brand run by The GlenAllachie Distillers Company, the independent Speyside firm behind GlenAllachie distillery. Under the MacNair's name the company bottles whisky it blends from malts rather than a single distillery's spirit.
The best-known range is Lum Reek, a peated blended malt. The name is Scots for chimney smoke, which hints at the style: malt whisky with a clear smoky side. Buyers will find older Lum Reek 12 Year Old and 21 Year Old bottlings, later 10 Year Old batches, a cask strength batch, and a miniature of the 12 year old.
MacNair's also bottles rum. The Panama 7 Year Old and 15 Year Old Exploration releases from 2021 are aged rums from Panama, not whisky, so check the label when comparing prices.
