Hellyers Road is a single malt whisky made at the Hellyers Road distillery near Burnie, on the north-west coast of Tasmania. The distillery grew out of the island's dairy farming community. It has become one of the better-known names in Australian whisky.
The brand is distilled, matured and bottled at the distillery itself. The house style is light and malty, built mostly on American oak casks. Alongside the unpeated spirit, the distillery also makes peated whisky.
The core of the range is the Original, sold as the 10 Year Old Original, along with Slightly Peated, Peated 7 Year Old, Double Cask and the Pinot Noir Cask Finish, a nod to Tasmanian wine. Sherry-influenced bottlings include the 7 Year Old Sherry Cask Matured and the Oloroso de Jerez 10 Year Old.
Collectors will also find older and single cask releases, such as the 14 Year Old Peated from the Master Series, the 19 Year Old Voyager Cask and market exclusives like the 5 Year Old Peated American Oak single cask. Other names a buyer meets include Original Roaring Forty and the Journeyman 8 Year Old.
