Carpathian is a single malt whisky made in Romania by the Alexandrion Group, a drinks company better known for its brandy and other spirits. The whisky is distilled and bottled at the group's own distillery, which appears in our catalogue as Alexandrion Saber 1789.
The brand is a young one and is among the first single malts to come out of Romania. Rather than a single flagship, it is presented as a set of collections built around the cask used to finish the spirit.
The ranges a buyer meets include a Romanian Wine Cask Collection with Feteasca Neagra, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon finishes, a Spanish & Portuguese Wine Cask Collection with Ruby Port and Pedro Ximénez, an Italian Wine Cask Collection with Marsala, plus Cognac, Rhum and Greek beer cask finishes. There is also a Peated Collection matured in bourbon casks, and the Feteasca Neagra finish comes in a miniature as well.
