About Montifaud

Vallet family

Montifaud is a Cognac producer rather than a whisky maker, based in the Petite Champagne cru of the Cognac region in western France. It is a family house run by the Vallet family, who grow their own grapes, distil and age their own eaux-de-vie.

Petite Champagne cognacs are known for their finesse and long ageing potential, and Montifaud's style follows that line, with fruit and floral notes in the younger blends and more depth and rancio character in the older ones.

The range follows the classic Cognac age grades: Chateau VS, the Chateau Montifaud VSOP, Chateau Napoleon and Chateau XO, with Chateau Reserve Speciale, Chateau Millenium and the Chateau Extra 40 Ans D'Age at the older end. Chateau Cathaerine Vallet carries the family name.
