Joseph Cartron is a French liqueur maker based in Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy, where it has been making fruit liqueurs and spirits since the late nineteenth century. It is still run by the family. Our catalogue lists it as an Islay distillery, but that is an error: Cartron has no connection with Islay or with Scotch whisky.
The house is best known for Burgundy's classic blackcurrant liqueur, here as the Double Crème de Cassis, along with other fruit creams such as Crème de Fraise des Bois, Crème de Cerise and Crème de Mirabelle. The range also covers liqueurs like Café, Caramel, Cacao Blanc, Châtaigne, Gingembre and Curaçao Bleu, plus a Fine de Bourgogne brandy.
These are liqueurs for cocktails, desserts and drinks such as kir, so buyers looking for whisky will not find any here.
