Black Bull is a blended Scotch brand with nineteenth-century origins. It was revived by Duncan Taylor, the independent bottler based in Huntly in Aberdeenshire, which blends and bottles it.
The brand is known for a generous share of malt whisky in its blends and for bottling stronger than most standard blends, which gives a rich, full style. It is a blend drawn from several distilleries rather than the product of a single distillery.
The core range includes the Black Bull 8 Year Old, 12 Years and Black Bull 21 Year Old, alongside the Black Bull Peated Edition. Kyloe, named after Highland cattle, is a softer blend, also offered as Kyloe Peated. At the top sit older releases such as the Black Bull 40 Year Old, issued in numbered releases, and special editions made with golfer Nick Faldo, including 18 and 30 year olds.
