Yellowstone

Yellowstone is one of the older names in Kentucky bourbon. It was launched in the 1870s and named after the newly created Yellowstone National Park. For much of the 20th century it was made at a distillery of the same name near Louisville and was a familiar, widely sold bourbon.

The brand faded in later decades and was brought back by Limestone Branch Distillery in Lebanon, Kentucky. Limestone Branch was founded by brothers Steve and Paul Beam, who come from distilling families with long ties to Kentucky whiskey. The distillery later came under Luxco, which is now part of MGP Ingredients.

Modern Yellowstone bottlings are bourbons in a classic Kentucky style. Some releases combine sourced bourbon with whiskey distilled at Limestone Branch, so the label is the best guide to what is in a given bottle.

Buyers will find the everyday Yellowstone Select and Select Bourbon, aged expressions such as the 6 Years Bourbon and the 6 Years Old Celebrating 150 Years, and the Recollection 8 Year Bourbon. There are also annual Limited Edition releases, such as the 2023 Release and the Bot.2018, along with cask finishes like the Rum Cask Finish in the Special Finishes Collection and an American Single Malt.
