J.J. Corry

J.J. Corry is the whiskey brand of the Chapel Gate Irish Whiskey Company, founded by Louise McGuane on her family farm in County Clare in the west of Ireland. The name honours J.J. Corry, a whiskey bonder from the area in the late 19th century.

Before the twentieth-century decline of Irish whiskey, bonders bought spirit from distilleries and matured, blended and sold it under their own names. J.J. Corry works the same way: it does not distill, but sources new spirit and mature whiskey from Irish distilleries, then ages and blends it in its own rackhouse on the farm.

The core blend is The Gael, a mix of malt and grain whiskeys of different ages. Other releases include The Hanson, The Battalion, The Sonas and The Vatting No.1, while The Flintlock is an older single malt release. Botanical and experimental bottlings such as Fierfield Barberry and Anfa sit alongside them.

For collectors, the Bonder's Edition series offers single casks, such as 7 and 9 year old whiskeys from PX and Palo Cortado sherry casks, often sold as retailer exclusives.
