Inchmurrin is one of the single malts produced at Loch Lomond distillery in Alexandria, at the southern end of Loch Lomond. The name comes from Inchmurrin, the largest island in the loch. The distillery makes several different malts under one roof, and Inchmurrin is its lighter, fruitier expression.
Loch Lomond is unusual in Scotland for its range of still types, including pot stills with straight necks that let the distillers vary the weight and character of the spirit. Inchmurrin is made to be clean and fruity, with notes often described as orchard fruit, citrus and floral.
The official range has centred on a 12 Year Old and an 18 Year Old, with older and finished releases such as the Madeira Wood Finish and the 18 Year Old in the Island Collection. Buyers will also find older bottlings of the 12, 15 and 18 Year Old from earlier label designs.
Inchmurrin is regularly bottled by independent bottlers as well. Our catalogue includes casks from Old Malt Cask, Thompson Bros and Gleann Mor, often at older ages or from single casks, which give a different view of the spirit than the official releases.
