Elixir Distillers was set up by brothers Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh, the founders of the London retailer The Whisky Exchange. It grew out of their earlier bottling business, and the team selects and bottles casks from distilleries across Scotland and beyond.
Elixir buys casks of mature whisky and bottles them under its own labels, as single casks, small batches and vattings. Its ranges cover very old rare casks, such as Bunnahabhain at 45 years old, as well as younger everyday bottlings. The company has also moved into distilling, with plans for its own distillery on Islay.
The ranges a buyer meets most often are Elements of Islay, with its periodic-table-style labels for Islay whiskies that do not always name the distillery, including the Cask Edit; Port Askaig, an Islay single malt brand; and The Single Malts of Scotland. Sherry Cask and Bourbon Cask bottlings, blended malts and one-off series also appear.
