Rebel Yell

Rebel Yell is a long-running Kentucky bourbon brand. In 2020 its owner shortened the name on the label to Rebel, so buyers will find both names on shelves and in our catalogue. The brand belongs to Luxco, which is itself part of MGP Ingredients.

The core style is a wheated bourbon, using wheat rather than rye as the secondary grain alongside corn. That tends to give a softer, rounder whiskey with sweet, bready notes. For many years the whiskey was sourced from other Kentucky distillers; Luxco now has its own Lux Row Distillers site in Bardstown, Kentucky.

The range a buyer meets starts with the standard bourbon and a 100 Proof bottling, then steps up to the Small Batch Reserve and the Rebel 10 Years Old Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. There is also a Rye Whiskey for those who prefer a spicier grain.

Rebel also releases cask-finished bourbons, such as the Bourbon Tawny Port Finish, Cognac Finish and French Oak Finish, as well as flavoured whiskeys like Honey and Ginger. The flavoured bottlings are liqueur-style products rather than straight bourbon, so check the label if you want the classic spirit.
