Tomatin distillery sits in the village of the same name, high in the hills south of Inverness. It was founded in 1897 and grew enormously in the 1970s, when it became the largest malt distillery in Scotland. In 1986 it became the first Scottish distillery bought by Japanese owners and is now part of the Takara group.
Its house style is gentle and fruity, unpeated, with soft orchard fruit and a smooth texture that suits both bourbon and sherry casks. For part of each year the distillery also makes a peated spirit, bottled under the Cù Bòcan name.
The official range starts with Legacy and the 12 Year Old, then steps up through the 15, 18, 21 and 30 Year Old. Special releases include Decades, the Sherry Collection and very old bottlings such as the 50 Year Old. Cù Bòcan has its own line, including numbered Creation releases.
After decades of supplying blenders, Tomatin is also easy to find from independent bottlers. Gordon & MacPhail, Douglas Laing, Hunter Laing, The Vintage Malt Whisky Company, That Boutique-y Whisky Company, Master of Malt and James Eadie all appear in our catalogue, alongside the distillery's own single cask releases.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
