Longmorn stands just south of Elgin in Speyside. It was built in the early 1890s and today belongs to Chivas Brothers, the Scotch whisky arm of Pernod Ricard. For most of its life the bulk of its spirit has gone into blends, and it has a strong reputation among blenders.
The distillery also has a link with Japanese whisky: Masataka Taketsuru, who later helped found whisky making in Japan, gained some of his early experience at Longmorn. That story is one reason the name is well known among collectors outside Scotland.
Longmorn's spirit is unpeated and tends to be full, fruity and rounded, and it carries long ageing in oak well. Older bottlings are often described as rich, with ripe fruit and honeyed notes. Official releases have been fairly few over the years, with age statements such as the 16, 23 and 30 Year Old appearing in our catalogue.
Because so much Longmorn was sold for blending, independent bottlings are plentiful. Buyers will meet Gordon & MacPhail's Connoisseurs Choice and Private Collection, Signatory Vintage cask strength releases, The Coopers Choice from The Vintage Malt Whisky Company, and bottlings from Douglas Laing, Hunter Laing, Duncan Taylor, Berry Bros. & Rudd, Adelphi, Càrn Mòr, Hart Brothers and The Whisky Exchange. Vintage single casks from the 1960s and 1970s are prized by collectors.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
