Glen Flagler was a malt whisky distillery built in the mid-1960s within the large Moffat distillery complex at Airdrie, east of Glasgow. The site belonged to Inver House Distillers, then part of the American company Publicker Industries, and also produced grain whisky and a second malt called Killyloch.
Malt distilling at Glen Flagler stopped in the 1980s and the buildings have since been demolished. Because it ran for only about two decades and much of its spirit went into blends, bottles are scarce today.
The official bottlings a buyer meets are mostly from the 1970s and 1980s: the 5 Year Old and 8 Year Old, an age-unstated Glen Flagler, and the 'Rare All Malt Scotch 100% Pot Still Whisky'. A 1973 vintage at 30 years old appeared much later.
Independent bottlings are rare but do exist. Signatory released several older casks, including 1970 and 1972 vintages at 23 and 24 years old, sometimes labelled 'Glenflagler'.
