About Dewar's
Dewar's is a blended Scotch whisky brand that began in Perth in the 1840s and is now owned by Bacardi. It is known for its 'double aged' blends and a range of cask-finished 8 year olds.

Dewar's goes back to John Dewar, who set up as a wine and spirits merchant in Perth in the 1840s. His sons, John Alexander and Tommy Dewar, built the business into one of the best-known names in blended Scotch. Today John Dewar & Sons is part of Bacardi.
The blends draw on malt whiskies from the company's own distilleries, with Aberfeldy in Highland Perthshire as the brand's spiritual home, alongside grain whisky. A hallmark of the house is 'double ageing': after the malts and grains are blended, the whisky goes back into casks to marry before bottling.
The core of the range runs through the 12 Years, 18 Years and the 25 Year Old Signature. The Double Aged and Double Double Aged bottlings, such as the 21Y and 32Y, take the marrying idea further by resting the whisky in stages.
The 8 year old series finishes the blend in casks from other drinks: Caribbean Smooth in rum casks, Ilegal Smooth in mezcal casks, French Smooth in Calvados casks and Japanese Smooth in Japanese oak. Collectors also look for older bottlings such as Victoria Vat and Ancestor from the 1950s, closed with the old spring cap.
