Cambus stood on the River Forth near Alloa in Clackmannanshire. Distilling began there in the early 19th century, and the distillery later became a grain distillery using column stills. It was one of the founding members of the Distillers Company, which later became part of Diageo.
Cambus closed in 1993. The site was kept by Diageo for other uses, so the whisky made there is now a finite and ageing stock.
As a grain distillery, Cambus made whisky mainly from wheat or maize for blending. After decades in wood, its whisky tends to be soft and sweet, with vanilla, coconut and toffee from the casks.
Official bottlings are rare, so almost all Cambus comes from independent bottlers. Our catalogue lists single casks and batches from Douglas Laing (Old Particular and Xtra Old Particular), Hunter Laing, Signatory Vintage, Duncan Taylor, The Vintage Malt Whisky Company (The Cooper's Choice), That Boutique-y Whisky Company, Master of Malt and Darkness, many of them 25 years old or older.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
