Strathmill sits by the River Isla in the town of Keith, in Speyside. It was built in the 1890s and was bought by the gin company W&A Gilbey, who gave it its current name. It is now owned by Diageo.
The distillery's output goes mostly into blends, above all J&B, so official single malt has always been scarce. Its spirit is light, grassy and fruity, helped by purifiers fitted to the spirit stills that send heavier vapours back for redistillation.
Official bottlings are few: a 12 year old in Diageo's Flora & Fauna series and occasional older releases such as a 25 Year Old in the Special Releases. That makes independent bottlers the main way to try it.
In our catalogue Strathmill is bottled by Signatory Vintage, Gordon & MacPhail (including Connoisseurs Choice), Douglas Laing (Old Malt Cask), Duncan Taylor, That Boutique-y Whisky Company, Master of Malt, The Single Cask and James Eadie, often as single casks and in sherry or wine finishes.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
