Teaninich distillery lies in the town of Alness on the Cromarty Firth, in the northern Highlands. It dates from 1817 and is owned today by Diageo, which uses most of its output in blended whisky.
The distillery is known for an unusual piece of equipment: instead of a traditional mash tun, it uses a mash filter, a method more common in beer brewing. The spirit it makes tends to be grassy, fruity and slightly oily, a working Highland malt rather than a showpiece.
Official bottlings are few. The best known is the 10 Year Old from Diageo's Flora and Fauna series, and older official releases such as the 1973 vintage turn up from time to time.
Most Teaninich on the market comes from independent bottlers. Our catalogue lists single casks and small batches from Signatory Vintage, Douglas Laing (Old Particular and Xtra Old Particular), Hunter Laing, Berry Bros. & Rudd, Gordon & MacPhail, Adelphi, Càrn Mòr, James Eadie and That Boutique-y Whisky Company, as well as bottlings under labels such as Lady of the Glen. This makes it a good distillery for exploring different casks and ages at fair prices.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
