Glenburgie lies near Forres in the north of Speyside, and its roots go back to the early nineteenth century. It is owned by Chivas Brothers, part of Pernod Ricard, and was largely rebuilt in the mid-2000s. Its main job is supplying malt for Ballantine's blends.
The spirit is unpeated and generally fruity and creamy, with notes of orchard fruit and soft spice. For a period from the late 1950s the distillery also ran Lomond stills, and the heavier spirit from them was sold as Glencraig, now a rare name sought by collectors.
Official single malts have been limited, though Chivas has released Glenburgie under the Ballantine's single malt series and in distillery-only editions. For decades Gordon & MacPhail was the main source of bottled Glenburgie, notably in its Connoisseurs Choice range, and old bottlings from the 1980s still appear.
Today most Glenburgie on the market comes from independents: Signatory Vintage (Cask Strength Collection), Douglas Laing (Old Particular), Hunter Laing (The First Editions), Càrn Mòr, Murray McDavid, Langside and That Boutique-y Whisky Company, often as single casks.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
