Glentauchers stands beside the road between Keith and Rothes in Speyside. It was built at the end of the 1890s, with whisky blender James Buchanan among its founders, and for most of its life its spirit has gone into blends rather than its own bottlings.
The distillery was mothballed in the mid 1980s and reopened a few years later under Allied Distillers. Today it belongs to Chivas Brothers, the Scotch whisky arm of Pernod Ricard, and remains an important part of Ballantine's.
The spirit is light and clean, often described as grassy, floral and gently fruity. That makes it a good canvas for different casks, from fresh bourbon barrels to sherry casks and small octaves.
Official bottlings are scarce, so buyers mostly meet Glentauchers through independent bottlers. Gordon & MacPhail, Signatory Vintage, Douglas Laing (with Hepburn's Choice), Hunter Laing, Duncan Taylor (with The Octave), Càrn Mòr (Strictly Limited), Murray McDavid and That Boutique-y Whisky Company all release it, often as single casks or small batches with a vintage and age on the label.

About whiskies
Whisky (or whiskey) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, which gives it its distinctive color and complex flavor profile.
Each bottling represents a unique expression with specific characteristics like age, cask type, and alcohol strength.
