Glencadam stands on the edge of the town of Brechin in Angus, in the eastern Highlands of Scotland. It dates from 1825 and is one of the older working distilleries in the area. Since 2003 it has belonged to Angus Dundee Distillers, who brought the single malt forward after many years in which most of the spirit went into blends.

The distillery runs a single pair of stills. Their lyne arms angle upwards, which sends more vapour back into the still and helps give a light, clean, fruity spirit. The whisky is unpeated, and the house style leans towards orchard fruit, cream and gentle spice.

The official range is bottled without chill filtration and without added colour. A buyer will meet age statements such as the 15 Years, and cask finishes including Reserva Andalucía, the Tawny Port Cask Finish and the White Port Cask Finish, along with American Oak bottlings and occasional older or single cask releases.

Glencadam is also a regular name among independent bottlers. Our catalogue has bottlings from Gordon & MacPhail (including Connoisseurs Choice), Douglas Laing, Hunter Laing (whose Old & Rare label covers some very old casks), Berry Bros. & Rudd, Blind Summit Whisky, Langside and That Boutique-y Whisky Company, so it is a good distillery to compare across different casks and ages.
